The looping animation of Tony Ann’s "Icarus" captures the first 10 seconds, telling the story of Icarus’s fateful decision to fly too close to the sun. The animation begins with Icarus admiring the sun, then shifts perspective as he rises, making the sun’s beauty feel even more intense. As he draws closer, the sun becomes a dangerous force, burning his wings and causing his fall.
The loop, showing Icarus standing after his fall, adds a sense of resistance to the narrative.
